On Sunday 26th November 2017, the six person LNCDGA junior pennant team traveled to Coffs Harbour Golf Club to play against the NRDGA team for the right to play in the JNJG junior pennant state final at Newcastle Golf Club in January 2018. After a great afternoon of golf the LNC team lost 3 1/2 matches to 2 1/2 matches.

Due to a surfing mishap (broken wrist) a week before the match, our No 1 player Ben Morgan was unable to play which meant our No 3 player William Knight (11 handicap) had to step up to the No 2 position and play off scratch against the Northern Rivers No 2 player who is a +1 golfer. William battled hard all day playing very good golf but was simply no match for his much more accomplished opponent.

The rest of our team played some really good golf and the other two matches we lost could have gone either way. All our players got off to poor starts but recovered extremely well and were in the lead at some stage of each match. The final results were:

No. 1 Reid Brown – Square

No. 2 William Knight – L  8/6

No. 3 Pyper Hollis – W 4/3

No. 4 Danny Bisby – L 3/1

No.5 Paden Richards –  L 3/2

No.6 Liam Richardson – W 4/2

In conclusion we would like to congratulate NRDGA on their win and we wish them good luck in the state final. We would also like to thank Coffs Harbour Golf Club for hosting the match and for waiving the green fees.
